Sixty-four (64) of the nation's best girls basketball players hailing from sixteen (16) states headed to Knoxville, Tennessee August 20-21, 2021 to take part in the inaugural AAU Girls Basketball All-Star 3-on-3 Tournament. This premier event was held in conjunction with the 2021 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend.
"What a tremendous opportunity our Girl's Executive Committee was able to give the young AAU Girl Basketball players to experience," said Jerry Codispoti, Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors and AAU Girls Basketball Executive member. "Our game is much more than playing the sport, it's to make these kids, fans of the sport."
Along with competing in the inaugural AAU All-Star 3-on-3 event, players had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend an autograph session at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame with 2020 Inductees in attendance (see graphic below). Watch autograph session
Immediately following the autograph signing, players were escorted down to the Hall’s Urban Playground to participate in a question and answer session with the inductees. ESPN personality Debbie Antonelli was on hand to emcee this special Q+A with this year's Hall of Fame class. Watch the video here.
"The Hall is a very special place for those of us that love the game," said Jerry Codispoti, Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors and AAU Girls Basketball Executive member. "We intend to continue this tradition every year to bring more young players to Knoxville to visit the Hal in the future."
After completing the 3-on-3 All-Star event, the players and coaches were invited to attend the 2021 Induction Ceremony at the Tennessee Theater, watching the inductees accept the Hall of Fame honors. The ceremony was broadcasted live on ESPN.
