2023 AAU 3rd - 8th Girls' World Championships: Recap

The Knoxville Convention Center played host to the the 2023 AAU 3rd - 8th Grade Girls' Basketball World Championships from June 22 to 26, 2023 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Knoxville Convention Center played host to the the 2023 AAU 3rd - 8th Grade Girls' Basketball World Championships from June 22 to 26, 2023 in Knoxville, Tennessee. With high-paced action, the event witnessed 183 teams from 23 different states, featuring more than 2700 athletes who left spectators spellbound.
 
The stage was set for a thrilling showdown, with young talent showcasing their skills in pursuit of victory and glory. Amidst the intense competition, spectators and participants were also able to explore the charming city of Knoxville. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the esteemed Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Alex Haley Heritage Square, bask in the beauty of the iconic World's Fair Park, wander through Knoxville's historic Old City, or delve into Tennessee history at the legendary Blount Mansion.

In the 3rd-grade category, Next Level 2032 from Kentucky emerged as the World Champions, showcasing their prowess with a remarkable 46-32 victory over Texas - MC Elite 2032.
 
For the 4th-grade division, it was a tale of two thrilling contests. IGB 2031 Newkirk from Indiana etched their name in history with a hard-fought 48-42 win against Alabama Southern Starz, earning them the 4th grade D1 World Championship title. Meanwhile, the Cap City Queens from Ohio clinched the D2 World Championship, prevailing with a 43-38 victory over IGB 2031 Vollmar from Indiana.
 
Kentucky Premier showcased their talent and determination in the 5th-grade D1 category, earning the World Championship crown after defeating IGB 2030 from Indiana in a hard fought 40-32 championship game. The Net Reapers from Alabama claimed the D2 World Championship with a 44-34 triumph over STL Phenom. The 5th-grade D3 division saw the home state heroes, Tennessee Extreme, seizing the title with a thrilling 21-16 victory against Kentucky Premier Green, ensuring the World Championship stayed in Tennessee.
 
In the 6th-grade division, STL Phenom reigned supreme, capturing the D1 World Championship after a gripping 51-44 win against Drive Nation from Texas. The Southern Starz from Alabama dominated the D2 category, securing their World Championship with a 55-41 triumph over Kentucky Premier. In the D3 section, the Ohio Lady Mambas soared to victory, claiming the World Championship after a commanding 66-48 victory over DPR Hoops Academy from Maryland.
 
The 7th-grade D1 category witnessed STL Phenom prevailing in an intense match, securing a World Championship title with a hard-fought victory against North Tartan from Minnesota. Essence from Georgia showcased their prowess in the 7th-grade D2 category, securing a World Championship title with a 50-42 win over FBS Reign. In the 7th-grade D3 section, Tennessee Elite emerged victorious, claiming the World Championship after a commanding 57-38 win against the Mississippi Fly Girls.
 
As the championships reached its thrilling culmination, the 8th-grade category witnessed enthralling battles. FBC Reign from Tennessee showcased dominance in the D1 division, securing a commanding World Championship with a 62-27 victory against South Florida Essence. DPR Hoops Academy from Maryland proved their mettle in the D2 category, becoming World Champions with a victory over FBC Reign from Tennessee. The 8th-grade D3 division saw Lady EMPACT from Georgia securing the World Championship with a 52-31 victory against the Mississippi Fly Girls.
 
The 2023 AAU 3rd - 8thAAU Girls' World Championships was indeed a celebration of talent, determination, and passion for basketball, leaving a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike.
